The Power of Persistence : A Global Motivational Story

It's simple to give up on our goals and accept the status quo when the odds are so frequently stacked against us in this world. However, the life of one young woman from a small African hamlet demonstrates how tenacity and willpower can get one over even the most difficult challenges.

Aisha is a smart, briliant and aspirational young woman who grew up in a society where girls were expected to get married young and start kids rather than pursue higher education. Aisha, though, was adamant about leading a different life.

Aisha pleaded for the opportunity to go to school against her family's reservations. She immersed herself into her studies with a great passion after her parents finally gave in. She poured over textbooks for hours every day, trying to learn everything she could.

 Aisha's path was not simple, though. Her family was struggling to make end meet due to their poverty. Aisha occasionally endured hardships like going without food so that her younger siblings might eat, as well as long walks to school.

 Even though the odds appeared to be overwhelming, Aisha persisted. She persisted in her efforts to improve her life by continuing to learn and push herself.

 Her diligence paid off, too. Aisha received a scholarship from university in the US after graduating at the top of her own class. She continued to succeed there, achieving high scores and establishing a reputation for herself in the global intellectual community.

 Aisha's quest continued after that, though. She was aware that achievement did not come lightly and that many other girls around the world were dealing with the same difficulties she had faced.

 Aisha then made the choice to return the favour. In order to provide girls in rural Africa the same chance she had been given to follow her aspirations, she formed a nonprofit organisation that is committed to giving them education and chances.

Aisha's influence rose as her organisation did. She rose to prominence as a voice for empowerment and education on a worldwide range, encouraging young people to strive for their aspiration no matter how impossibly far fetched they may seem and to have faith in themselves.

The success of perseverance and tenacity is now demonstrated through Aisha's narrative. It demonstrates to us that, regardless of where we are from or the difficulties we encounter, everyone of us has the potential to positively impact the world if we have faith in our own abilities and persevere in taking small steps in the right direction.
